Filipino Beef Nilaga Recipe



Ingredients
  • 1 pound beef shank
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 bundle scallion
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes or  1 can beef stock
  • 2 carrots, cut into 3 pieces
  • 2 potatoes, quartered
  • ½ bundle of spinach leaves or pechay
  • 2 ears of corn cut into halves
Directions
  1. Bring beef to boil in a large pot with potatoes, carrots, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and beef stock in medium heat for 1 hour until the beef is so tender. Add more water if required.
  2. Make a knot of the scallion and add the corn. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Add spinach and garnish with chopped scallions.
  4. Serve hot.
