How to Use Incentive Spirometry

           

              Instruct the client to keep a tight mouth seal around mouthpiece.
              Inhale and hold breath for 3 to 5 seconds.

              As the client inhales, the needle of the spirometry machine will rise.
              This promotes lung expansion.
