Filipino Beef Nilaga Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef shank
- 1 quart water
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 1 clove garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bundle scallion
- 2 beef bouillon cubes or 1 can beef stock
- 2 carrots, cut into 3 pieces
- 2 potatoes, quartered
- ½ bundle of spinach leaves or pechay
- 2 ears of corn cut into halves
Directions
- Bring beef to boil in a large pot with potatoes, carrots, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and beef stock in medium heat for 1 hour until the beef is so tender. Add more water if required.
- Make a knot of the scallion and add the corn. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add spinach and garnish with chopped scallions.
- Serve hot.
