ESSAY: Why do people study in college?

College is a higher level of education that students take after completion of high school. There are three reasons why people study in college.
First, it is a stepping stone towards achieving the career the student wants to practice in the future. When you go to college, the subjects in the curriculum are more specific. One example was when I took the BS Nursing course, most of my major subjects pertained to science subjects such as Anatomy, Psychology etc. In college, the students are being trained in mastering their field of expertise.
Second, if you earned a degree in college, it is easier for you to find a job. Employers prefer applicants who are college graduates compared to persons who finished high school. Let’s say the competition for one position is stiff, sometimes employers would look at the credentials, or certain awards received. In many instances this can sway the decision process in hiring the applicant.

The third reason why people go to college is that it may have something to do with the influence of the family.  For example, if the family has a successful business or the family members are mostly professionals such as doctors, lawyers etc. then most likely the person is influenced to take the same field of study.
Whatever motivation people have in attending college, the point is they are sure they made a good decision. Education is a good investment.  It increases your knowledge, and it widens your horizon.
